Injection mold design involves more than creating three-dimensional geometry. Part function, assembly relationships, material, critical dimensions and target production quantity all influence the tooling approach.

At İdeal Plastik, project and design review is connected to mold manufacturing, sampling and serial production. Final decisions are confirmed only after the project data has been reviewed by the engineering team.

01Scope

What we evaluate together

Part and application review

Geometry, function, assembly relationships and the operating environment are considered in one project context.

DFM pre-review

Wall thickness, release direction, parting line, critical surfaces and geometry affecting the mold are assessed.

Tooling approach

Production quantity, material and part structure are used to prepare the principal tooling decisions for technical review.

Design linked to production

Design output is considered together with sample acceptance and repeatable serial production targets.

02Production flow

A visible path from input to production

  1. 01Receive CAD, drawings and project information
  2. 02Clarify part function and critical requirements
  3. 03Review geometry affecting manufacturability
  4. 04Share missing inputs and required revisions
  5. 05Define mold manufacturing or the next technical step

03Project brief

Information that makes the first review useful

  • STEP, STP, IGES or a dimensioned drawing
  • Part function and assembly relationships
  • Initial order and estimated annual quantity
  • Plastic material when known
  • Critical dimensions and acceptance criteria
  • Surface, colour and visible areas
  • Target sampling and production date

Missing information does not prevent first contact; it is identified during the technical review.

04Questions and answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a DFM review provide final manufacturability approval?

No. The initial review is preliminary. Final manufacturability decisions require complete technical data and engineering assessment.

Is a STEP file enough for a quotation?

A STEP file is a strong starting point. Part function, quantity, material, critical dimensions and surface expectations help define the quotation scope.

Can I start before the technical drawing is complete?

Yes. Existing CAD, a sketch or a description can start a technical preparation discussion. Critical dimensions must be confirmed before production.

Is mold design separate from serial production?

Design is a distinct technical stage, but it is assessed in relation to sampling, mold manufacturing and serial production targets.
